In a world that is becoming increasingly complicated every day, therapy is a safe space away from the pressures of daily life where you can explore your concerns without judgement. Brian O'Connor's aim as a therapist is to provide you with a safe space where he can support you in exploring what is bothering you and you both can work as a team to find solutions that are tailored to your unique story and circumstances.
He has been a qualified Social Worker for nearly a decade and in that time he has worked with people of all ages from a diverse range of backgrounds. It is his belief that the key to therapy lies in the relationship you build between you and your therapist. Brian will help explore the concerns that have brought you to therapy, and he will take your lead on where we go from there. If you wish to explore your past and discover the experiences that have brought you to where you are, you can do that. If you wish to focus on making active changes in the here and now, you can do that as well (and there is always room for a combination of both). Therapy is about YOUR journey and he considers it his honour to help guide and support you on that path as best he can.
Brian draws from a range of therapies including Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT) and Narrative Therapy but his main guiding principles come from the Strengths-Based perspective. Brian believes above all that YOU are the expert in your own life and that he is merely here to help you on your road to self-actualization.
You alone can open the door to a brighter future, but he is here to help you find the key.
