Helen has been practicing as a clinical social worker in the area of mental health since 2001. Helen has a Master of Social Work Degree from York University. She also has a Bachelor of Social Work Degree from York University and a Bachelor of Psychology from the University of Toronto.
Helen brings her experience from working in child and adult mental health programs and eating disorder programs at hospitals such as Trillium Health Partners and William Osler Health System, and mental health community centres such as Peel Children's Centre, Kinark Child, Family Services, and York Centre for Children Youth and Families.
Helen's areas of expertise include working with children, adults, and families. Helen's starting point in therapy is each person's unique needs. By creating connections with clients, Helen provides ways to manage various mental health challenges such as anxiety, depression, eating disorders, body image issues, addictions, parent-child conflicts, parenting struggles, trauma, and abuse. Whether the need is to work through guilt, shame, and blame from disordered eating, hopelessness, and lack of motivation from depression, fears from anxiety or trauma, loss of connection with a family member/child, or feeling stuck with how to parent. Helen is there to help each step of the way. She listens with kindness and finds tools that will help to create more self-worth, peace, and harmony for each person, relationship, and family.
Helen approaches each client with compassion, empathy, and understanding. She helps to clear away stress and struggles by providing a safe and trusting space to process feelings and experiences, and by strengthening each person's resiliency, innate wisdom and coping skills. Helen supports clients to find balance, calm, happiness, and inner growth by assisting them to navigate through life's challenges with self-compassion and ease.
