Jessika Welch (she/her) is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) who was born and raised in Trinidad and Tobago and moved to Canada to pursue her passion for counselling, art and helping others. When she is not here at Anchoridge, Jessika spends her time working at SickKids in Toronto providing mental health services to their young patients.
Jessika’s approach to therapy is Trauma-informed, collaborative, client-centered and creative while building a strong therapeutic relationship as a key tool for transformation and healing. She aspires to maintain relationships where clients feel safe, seen, heard, valued and supported. Her aim is to encourage creative exploration that inspires new and hopeful perspectives while supporting clients in building upon existing tools to promote well-being and self-reliance. Jessika’s individualized approach allows her to meet the unique needs of each client as well as celebrate their differences and strengths. Additionally, she is committed to an anti-racist, anti-oppressive and anti-colonial practice and aspires to facilitate emotional healing and wellness informed by humanistic principles of empathy, compassion and unconditional positive regard.
As a deeply curious person, Jessika feels very privileged and grateful to have the opportunity to witness vulnerability, moments of deep insight, realization, reflection, truth, and healing.
Working as a therapist has offered her limitless opportunities for learning and growth from every individual, she has the honour of working alongside. Jessika enjoys connecting with and supporting children and adolescents and strives for a warm and non-judgmental environment.
