Leah Burton-Saliba is a registered social worker, with her Bachelors and Masters of Social Work from McMaster University. Leah is a compassionate and attuned therapist who takes a client-centered, strength-based and trauma-informed approach to care. She started her social work career working with homeless single-parent populations and transitioned to intensive outpatient mental health and addictions, serving individuals across Canada.
Leah is passionate about helping people who are navigating grief and loss, depression and anxiety, shame and low self-esteem/perfectionism, and/or difficulties with identifying and regulating emotions. She also has experience working with individuals who have experienced trauma, including first-responders and military personnel with occupational stress injury. In addition, Leah has worked with individuals who are navigating the challenges of substance use addiction, and its impact on their personal and professional lives. She is also able to provide faith-based counseling services upon request.
Leah strives to create a safe therapeutic space that allows you to share openly, without fear of judgment. She approaches sessions with curiosity and gentleness, in efforts to help you foster compassion and kindness towards yourself. Her aim is to help you understand, clarify and live in alignment with your core values, while collaborating with you to discover the underlying causes and beliefs that are keeping you stuck. Leah identifies that going to therapy can be hard, requires courage and vulnerability, and so endeavors to meet you where you are in every session.
