Michelle Miranda is a passionate and devoted Art Therapist who completed her Bachelor of Arts at the University of Guelph, with a double major in Psychology and Studio Art. During this time, Michelle became inspired to combine her two interests of empathy and art, and to continue exploring the therapeutic potential of art as a creative non-verbal approach to mental health challenges. To continue developing her experience and knowledge, Michelle went on to complete her Master of Arts in Creative Arts Therapies at Concordia University, specializing in Art Therapy.
Michelle practices using a combination of both Talk Therapy and Art Therapy from a client-centred approach, and uses a blend of Psychodynamic, Narrative, Solution-Focused, Play, and Trauma-Informed Therapy in her work with clients. She has experience using Art Therapy to support a variety of populations including, geriatric cohorts, individuals coping with grief and bereavement, and children and youth dealing with various mental, physical, and development challenges. Michelle specializes in several areas including, depression and anxiety, trauma, low self-esteem, children and adolescents, grief and loss, and coping with medical conditions.
Michelle's goal is to provide a supportive and non-judgemental space where individuals are able to explore, grow and feel empowered throughout their therapeutic journey. She hopes to continue to promote the use of art within the mental health field and empower others to explore the creative potential that art has to offer as both a healing and growing experience.
