MUSIC THERAPY


Music Therapy practiced in Kitchener-Waterloo, Milton, Mississauga, and the surrounding areas, Anchoridge Counselling takes pride in the therapy practice offered to help clients with individual needs.

Music Therapy is the clinical and evidence-based use of music interventions to accomplish individualized goals within a therapeutic relationship. Music Therapy also provides avenues for communication that can be helpful to those who find it difficult to express themselves in words.

Music Therapy offers a nonjudgmental and supportive process that allows a person to explore and express feelings creatively and nonverbally through music.

This can be achieved passively through listening, relaxation, and Guided Imagery; or actively through singing, improvising, song-writing, and instrument playing. Emotions and feelings need an outlet for expression and validation, but sometimes the experiences are too vulnerable or raw to talk about. Music provides an alternative to release trapped feelings in the body and provide release.

Vocal Psychotherapy is a deeper co-creative process that uses breath, natural sounds, vocal improvisation, songs, and dialogue within a client and therapist relationship to facilitate intra-psychic and interpersonal change and growth.

Our goal is to connect you with the right mental health professional who will strive to empower you to reach a breakthrough within six to eight sessions. At Anchoridge, we know the value of giving compassionate, qualified counsellors the chance to work with the population they know best.
