A small change makes a big difference. Marina believes that we have the strengths to deal with any challenge that life throws our way and that small positive changes can often lead to bigger changes. The focus in therapy can be on our desired future as opposed to “the problem” and the past, while also holding space for how hurt and hardships continue to affect us today.
Marina strives to create a warm, supportive and non-judgemental environment, as she acknowledges the courage it takes to come to therapy. Marina's approach is strength-based and focuses on goals or exceptions to the problem. Instead of looking for what is wrong and how to fix it, she will work with you to look for what is right and how to use it.
Marina graduated with her Master of Social Work from Toronto Metropolitan University in 2019. Over the past six years, Marina has worked with clients in non-for-profit community mental health settings on a broad range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, caregiving, grief, credit card debt, chronic illness, and dementia. More recently, she has been really enjoying working with new parents (Moms and Dads!). The assumptions that guide her work are that there is always hope, that all behavior has meaning, and that clients are the experts in their lives. Marina works with clients to develop coping skills and solutions that are right for them.
Marina is a Designated Capacity Assessor as per the Capacity Assessment Office, Ministry of the Attorney General. Marina specializes in assessing individuals with dementia and additionally provides assessments in Russian. Connect with Marina directly for requests for a legal financial capacity assessment
