Amal is a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology student at Yorkville University who brings a warm, compassionate, and collaborative approach to her work. Prior to beginning her clinical training, Amal gained several years of experience in rehabilitation, supporting individuals navigating significant life changes following acquired brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, and motor vehicle accidents. Through this work, she developed a deep appreciation for the ways that emotional well-being can be influenced by our relationships, environments, identities, and life experiences.
Amal is passionate about supporting adults experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, low self-esteem, life transitions, relationship concerns, and challenges related to identity and personal growth. She recognizes that reaching out for support can feel vulnerable and strives to create a space where clients feel genuinely heard, understood, and comfortable being themselves.
Amal's approach is client-centred, trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and strengths-based. She believes that therapy is not one-size-fits-all and that meaningful change is built through collaboration and a strong therapeutic relationship. Amal aims to help clients better understand themselves and the patterns influencing their lives while recognizing the strengths and resilience they already carry.
FUN FACT
Amal has lived in three different countries (Nigeria, Lebanon, Africa) and loves travelling. She has been to 35 countries so far!
