Lolita Schmalenberg has trained in Canada, and the UK and she has practiced in Canada, Central America, and Asia. Beginning her career as a social worker with Scarborough General Hospital, Lolita has worked in various social service organizations, NGOs and international schools in Ontario, Belize, China, and most recently Hong Kong.

Working internationally for 25 years has allowed Lolita to become very skilled at helping clients from various cultural and ethnic backgrounds. Key areas of speciality include dealing with issues in adaptation and life changes, gender identity, grief, parenting, trauma, and sexual dysfunction. Working from an integrative framework, Lolita utilises evidence-based therapeutic models to meet her clients’ needs.

Lolita has qualified extensively for crisis and suicide prevention & response with PREPARE. As a Child Protection Officer in high schools, she has implemented Cognitive Behavioural Interventions for Trauma in Schools. Lolita has presented at numerous international conferences and offers topical workshops for parents, educators, and private organizations.

Lolita’s mission is to help people recall their self-worth, their core values & strengths and make the necessary changes to patterns of behaviour that no longer serve their life goals. She has lived experience with diversity and being treated as ‘other in the country she calls ‘home’’. Lolita knows, we all have our own unique perceptions based on many factors such as our life experiences and the context in which we live. Lolita strives to help every client find acceptance and appreciation for who they are.
