Combining Mind-Body Connection with Emotional Healing
Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), often referred to as “tapping,” is a powerful, evidence-informed approach that helps you release emotional distress by stimulating specific points on the body. By blending elements of talk therapy with gentle tapping on acupressure points, EFT can help calm the nervous system, shift thought patterns, and promote healing.
At Anchoridge Counselling Services, we offer EFT as a supportive therapy for those experiencing anxiety, trauma, stress, grief, and more.
What Is Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)?
EFT is a mind-body technique that involves tapping with your fingertips on specific meridian points (similar to acupuncture points) while focusing on distressing thoughts or emotions. This process helps reduce the intensity of emotional triggers and promote a sense of calm and clarity.
It’s simple, non-invasive, and suitable for all ages.
EFT draws from principles of:
Cognitive therapy
Exposure therapy
Acupressure and Traditional Chinese Medicine
It’s been used successfully to treat a variety of issues and is especially helpful when emotions feel “stuck” in the body.
What is Tapping?
Tapping is the physical component of EFT. During a session, you’ll be guided to gently tap on a series of acupressure points — typically on the face, collarbone, and hands — while speaking aloud or mentally focusing on an emotion, belief, or memory.
This combination of physical stimulation and verbal processing helps:
1. Calm the body’s stress response
2. Disrupt negative emotional patterns
3. Reinforce positive shifts in thinking and feeling
Clients often report feeling lighter, more grounded, or emotionally “reset” after just one session.
