THERAPY FOR FERTILITY AND POSTPARTUM

Serving Kitchener-Waterloo, Milton, Oakville, London, and the surrounding areas, Anchoridge Counselling is eager to help with any issues surrounding fertility and pregnancy.

Suffering from fertility issues, miscarriage, pregnancy loss, stillbirth, postpartum depression or infant loss is one of the hardest experiences a person can face. Feeling that your body is working against you can be a painful realization, and on top of this, you may also be expected to make extremely difficult decisions regarding your future. Infertility can also carry with it a sense of denial with sadness and shock borne individually when pregnancy does not materialize. There can be feelings of fear, guilt and abandonment from the partner who feels the problem lies with them.

Going through fertility treatment, it can feel as though your life is on hold and it is hard to move forward or plan your future. It is important to know emotions, though painful, are natural and normal, and you don't have to work through them alone.

How we can help you through your journey?

Many of us believe that we can handle whatever life throws at us, but it is okay to need a helping hand sometimes. At Anchoridge Counselling, we understand how challenging it is when you desperately want to start or grow a family but are not able to conceive. We also recognize it is not just about medical intervention, but the mind-body connection. Treatment is customized to fit the specific needs of each person. We use psychotherapy methods such as:

Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)

Supportive Talk Therapy

Solution Focused Therapy

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

...to help individuals normalize the emotions that arise from fertility challenges, acknowledge and process their grief, navigate challenging social situations and teaching new ways of coping.

MISCARRIAGE

Miscarriage is a difficult experience that many people face, and is more common than people imagine. Before a baby is born parents experience so much joy as they plan for the birth of their child. Whether your miscarriage was during the early weeks of pregnancy or much later on, coping with a miscarriage can cause a wide spectrum of challenging emotions in both parents.

It is important to remind yourself that the miscarriage is highly unlikely to have occurred as a direct result of anything that you did or did not do. Miscarriage is nature’s way of ensuring survival by allowing only the strongest and healthiest pregnancies to continue. Unexplained miscarriage is therefore not a sign that something is wrong with is, but a sign that our bodies are functioning as they should.

How we can help you through your journey?

Coping with a miscarriage is not easy but there is help available so you don’t have to do it alone. At Anchoridge Counselling, we understand how challenging it is to feel the emotions that happen as a result and provide a safe space where you can talk about it. Treatment is customized to fit the specific needs of each person. We use psychotherapy methods such as:

Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)
Supportive Talk Therapy
Solution Focused Therapy
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

...to help individuals normalize the emotions that arise from the miscarriage, provide information to help understand it, acknowledge and process their grief, navigate challenging social situations and teaching new ways of coping.
